An upgrading of five main intersections; providing five U-turns at intersections, one roundabout, one right turn lane and 10 bus lay-by locations. The project also encompasses relocation of utilities and land acquisition; and installation of road lighting and furniture.<\/p>\n<p>The total cost of the project is RM80 million in construction and is expected to complete within 21 months from 10 November 2015 to 9 August 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The finished product is expected to ease the current traffic congestion occurring at the 10<sup>th<\/sup> Mile to 15<sup>th<\/sup> Mile stretch, which is considered to be the \u201cbottleneck\u201d between Serian and Kuching and the missing link of the Pan-Borneo Highway.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, it will improve road safety and minimise the risk of accidents, as well as stimulate economic activity along the highway.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Federal Minister of Works YB Dato\u2019 Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof (left) and Minister of Infrastructure Development &amp; Communications YB Dato Sri Michael Manyin anak Jawong (second\u00a0left) at the launch of the upgrading works for Kuching-Serian road from Mile 10 to 15 project held at Kompleks Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan, Kuching on 10 December 2015.
