Innovative Sciences and Technologies in the Sustainability of Future Global Economic<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

in Embracing Post Covid-19 Challenges<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

The 1st<\/sup> Global Summit on Viral-immunology and Antiviral therapy of COVID-19, held on 25 \u2013 26 November 2020 in UiTM Samarahan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the Special Edition of InnoSTRE (Innovative Science and Technologies for Research and Education) hybrid conference which offers participants a choice to attend and engage in face-to-face interactions with audiences or optionally, utilize the use of online meeting software or applications that don’t require the participants to gather at one venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main objective of this conference is to provide a platform for local and international participants from both academic and industrial to present their authoritative knowledge and the most up-to-date research findings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference also provides the opportunity to highlight the most recent innovation in science and technology developments and identifying emerging and future areas of growth and collaboration in embracing the post-CoVID-19 challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This conference officiated by the Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, the Chief Minister of Sarawak on 25 November 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Minister in his speech mention that COVID-19 pandemic has made it all the more necessary for us to involve ourselves even more extensively in research and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There is always opportunity in adversity. As for Sarawak, there are several areas where there are opportunities for us to grow in the post-COVID-19 era. We see opportunities, among others, in innovation and digitalization, food production and food security, forestry, renewable and green energy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I strongly believe the sustainability of our forest can only be achieved through research and development. The availability of high-quality planting materials, incidences of pest and diseases and choice of the right species of trees are all issues that need to be addressed through sound R & D,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On that note, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari Tun Openg mention that The Sarawak government has set aside RM190 million to establish a research centre for infectious diseases which will be completed in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This research centre will be the facility where scientists can work together to identify source materials to develop products or drugs that can control or mitigate the spread of new diseases, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This conference has gathered experts from China, Thailand and Malaysia and it is timely as a platform for local and international participants from both academia and industry to present their knowledge and latest research findings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This conference will certainly provide the opportunity for experts to highlight the most recent innovation in science and technology developments and to identify emerging and future areas of growth and collaboration in embracing the post-COVID-19 challenges.<\/p>\n
