By 2030, Sarawak aims to become a global food exporter, thus the adoption of technologies for smart farming is important in the agriculture sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In achieving this objective, it is imperative for Sarawak to incorporate advanced technologies to increase production efficiency and also the quality of the produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a recent interview with RAKAN Sarawak<\/strong>, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Modernization of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development, Encik Edwin Abit talked about several digital services that helps catapult the agriculture sector.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the State\u2019s Department of Agriculture, one of the digital services used for smart farming is theWeed, Insects, Microorganism Collection Sarawak (WIMICS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWIMICS is a digital system which was developed by the State\u2019s Department of Agriculture,\u201d said Encik Edwin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further explained that WIMICS contains information on crop pest resource and management in Sarawak and it was developed to facilitate self-diagnostic and the control of pest and crop disease problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from that, the other digital services that was also mentioned was the Sistem Maklumat Bersepadau Institut Pertanian Sarawak<\/em> (SMBIPS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SMBIPS is a centralized database system developed to enhance the delivery and management system of the Malaysia Agricultural Certificate Program in the Sarawak Agricultural Institute in Semongok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Encik Edwin, SMBIPS is to improve administrative efficiency encompassing various modules that cater to student administration affairs which includes registration, academics, examinations and convocations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another digital service developed by DOA is myPhyto, a digital system developed to enable online application, processing and issuance of phytosanitary certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Encik Edwin added that through this system, it improved the service delivery through shorter time for certificate issuance, aside from the standardisation of data storage and report retrieval for strategic use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other than that, DOA has also developed the Agrosoils Soils Information Delivery (ASID), which is a digital system developed for a more efficient delivery of soil information to stakeholders for better planning on agriculture development projects through digital maps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the Department of Veterinary Sarawak, the digital services that are offered includes :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. ePermit for the issuance of permits for import\/export of livestock and livestock products<\/li>
  2. the RFID for swiflet farm for traceability purposes<\/li>
  3. the rabies apps for the efficiency and effectiveness in managing rabies cases.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Under the Sarawak Land Consolidation and rehabilitation Authority, the digital services include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Mill Dashboard System<\/li>
    2. Estate Dashboard System<\/li>
    3. GPS Fleet Management System<\/li>
    4. Pilot for Infield Evacuation System (iFES)<\/li>
    5. UAV & Geospatial Technology<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
