Bintulu is experiencing delays in several of its projects, but they are expected to be completed in 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 1st<\/sup> September 2021, Sarawak State Secretary, YB Datuk Amar Jaul Samion visited the construction site for Bintulu new administration building project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Datuk Amar Jaul, the construction for the new building is delayed due to the movement control order (MCO) period, soil factor as well as lack of building materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expected to be completed by June 2022, the construction progress of the new building at the time of writing is at 23.88 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cost for the new administrative building project is RM117, 916, 161.60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from the site for the new administrative building, other project including the Kemena Bridge and the Bintulu-Jepak bridge project are also facing delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his visit to the Kemena Bridge, Datuk Amar Jaul said that the four-lane bridge project, costing at RM89, 779, 694.48 is also delayed due to weather factor, land issue as well as the implementation of the movement control order (MCO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scope of work for the project also includes a two-lane with R3 standard, stretching about 2.306 kilometres as well as a 729-meter bridge crossing the Kemena River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from this, the Bintulu-Jepak bridge project is also facing delay due to the implementation of MCO following the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the cost of RM466, 679, 497, the Bintulu-Jepak bridge construction which started in April 2019 is expected to complete in April 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project involves a construction of 3.5 kilometre R5 standard road, including the 1.2 kilometre bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cable-stayed bridge is equipped with 494.2m of cables, drainage structures and decorated with decorative and landscaping lighting systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon completion, it will be able to shorten the journey from Bintulu Airport to Bintulu city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the bridge will bring development into the Jepak area as well as improving the socio-economic status of the people here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will also be a catalyst for investment from 150,000 locals for Tanjung Kidurong and Samalaju Industrial Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from the visits to the various construction sites, Datuk Amar Jaul also conducted a visit to Sebauh District Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The district office had just completed its extension and renovation works to the existing building on 24th<\/sup> April 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scope of work for the project which cost RM4, 038, 495.00 includes block of extension office, renovation work at existing office and associated external works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Datuk Amar Jaul also conducted a visit to see the newly completed gateway entrance for the longhouse Rumah Chin Ak Gawing at Sg. Selezu, Sebauh in Bintulu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rural Transformation Project (RTP) for the longhouse under the Public Works Department (JKR), Bintulu cost RM149, 840.94 which started on 9th<\/sup> April 2021 was completed on 27th<\/sup> August 2021. The scope of project included site clearing, piling works, a gateway entrance, and brick wall fencing, stainless steel main gate, fencing work (security fencing) and flag post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
