development strategy aimed at steering the region toward sustainable growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This strategic vision, extending until the year 2030, encapsulates a multifaceted approach to address key economic challenges and opportunities<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plan is to amplify production scales, capturing efficiencies upstream, fostering downstream activities, and cultivating the services sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis holistic approach aims to sustainably bolster the primary and secondary sectors,\u201d said Premier of Sarawak, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg at the 8<sup>th<\/sup> University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) convocation in Sibu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari is UTS pro-chancellor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These ambitious objectives are set to revolutionize key economic sectors in Sarawak, encompassing manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, forestry, mining, and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo translate these goals into reality, the strategy identifies seven critical enablers: digital transformation, innovation, basic infrastructure, utilities, transport, renewable energy, and the cornerstone &#8211; education and human capital,\u201d Premier added further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEducation and human capital development play a crucial role in enhancing workforce efficiency, facilitating the upward movement of economies along the value chain,\u201d stressed Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" UTS convocation ceremony, a total of 297 graduates receive their respective degrees, including 3 graduates who will receive a doctor of philosophy (PhD), 26 graduates who will receive a master&#8217;s degree (Master) and the rest will receive a bachelor&#8217;s degree<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Recognizing the transformative impact of education, the Sarawak Government is steadfast in its commitment to supporting underprivileged parents and students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This commitment is epitomized by a ground-breaking initiative &#8211; providing the gift of free education to over 25,000 prospective students in all state-owned universities and higher learning institutions, starting from 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This forward-thinking approach underscores the government&#8217;s dedication to fostering educational opportunities and nurturing the aspirations of the next generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, UTS Vice Chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Khairuddin Bin Ab Hamid in his welcoming speech mention that UTS is committed to be part of Sarawak Government top priority which is focus on sustainable and inclusive education by the by providing free access to higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, UTS will promote Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), which is an essential part of Environment, Society and Governance (ESG) Strategy for a long-term commitment towards sustainable society and the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transformative nature of education based on ESD can guide people\u2019s values and behaviour, pushing them to embrace more sustainable lifestyle, and protecting the rights and well-being of future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof Datuk Dr Khairuddin added, \u201cUTS is embarking on this responsibility to empower the society through inclusive education so that they will understand the importance of peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style='text-align:center'
