Sarawak has taken significant steps in advancing digital governance, surpassing the halfway mark of service digitalisation well ahead of its PCDS 2030 targets. With 55 percent of 1,106 state government services already digitalised by 2024, the state has laid the groundwork for more efficient, transparent, and citizen-oriented governance. Yet, while service delivery has improved, the systems for addressing public complaints, questions, and suggestions remain uneven, fragmented, and in need of modernisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strengthening Feedback Mechanisms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cornerstone of responsive governance is a reliable feedback loop. Sarawak citizens currently use platforms like Talikhidmat, UKAS channels, Biro Pengaduan Awam, and local council portals to lodge complaints. However, each agency follows its own standard operating procedures (SOPs), often leading to bottlenecks. For example, the handling of a land survey query may differ from how DBKU processes waste management complaints. This patchwork approach causes confusion and delays, undermining trust in the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A cross-departmental audit of complaint SOPs is therefore crucial. Streamlining the flow – from submission to acknowledgment, investigation, and resolution – will help ensure consistency and clarity. Ultimately, improving Sarawak\u2019s complaint resolution process requires integrating technology, transparency, and human capacity.
