on Regulatory Impact Analysis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" dir=\"ltr\">A workshop on Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA) aiming in giving exposure on the implementation of Good Regulatory Practice (GRP) on state level was conducted in Kuching.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe main objective of the GRP is to ensure that any new rules created or revised to the existing rules can be implemented more thoroughly, accurately and comprehensively,\u201d said Director of State Service Modernisation Unit (UPPN) Dr Anthony Valentine Laiseh on November 29th.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe regulations have significant role in protecting public health, welfare, safety and the environment,\u201d he said adding that good regulations would also help in ensuring economic growth, innovation, competition, productivity and job creation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" dir=\"ltr\">The GRP and National Policy on the Development and Implementation of Regulations (NPDIR) were launched by Chief Secretary to the Government YBhg Tan Sri Dr. Ali Hamsa in July 2013.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" dir=\"ltr\">Initially focused on the federal ministries and agencies, the implementation of NPDIR has been expanded to state government and local authority level in 2016.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" dir=\"ltr\">According to Dr Anthony, the state government as the regulators must continue to analyse existing regulations to ensure whether they are appropriate or in need of modification in line with the dynamic current situation taking into account the rapid development of technology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" dir=\"ltr\">The programmes under GRP include World Bank Doing Business: Ease of Doing Business, Reducing Unnecessary Regulatory Burden (RURB) and Modernising Business Licensing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" dir=\"ltr\">Also present during the
