Established in September 1987, AIM strives to reduce poverty among the poor and low-income groups in Malaysia by providing micro-credit financing to fund activities that can improve their income. It also aims to produce entrepreneurs from these groups and offer them continuous financial, guidance and training services.

Internal failure costs are those caused by products or services that do not fulfil requirements established prior to delivery, while external failure costs occur following the delivery of products and services to external customers, which lead to customer dissatisfaction.
