In today\u2019s world; time change brought by globalization, with the rapid technology expansion, increase of competitiveness and the stress of speed, the role of administrative professionals are more than just secretarial or clerical work. <\/font><\/p>\n

YB Datin Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister\u2019s Office (Human Resource and Training) and Assistant Minister of Agriculture (Home Economics and Training), who was the who officially opened the Administrative Professionals Seminar 2009, which was held on the 22-23 April 2009 stressed about what 21st century Administrative Professionals should posses to achieve excellence in respective corporations. <\/font><\/div>\n
 <\/font><\/div>\n
21st century Administrative Professionals who comprised of Secretary, Office Assistant, Administrative Assistant, Executive Assistant, Office Manager, Event Planner, Conference Director and others are now expected to master Information and Communication technology, multi-task, able to organize things and event, meet deadlines and able to resolve conflicts. <\/font><\/div>\n
 <\/font><\/div>\n
Administrative Professionals are also required to be well organized, has good command of language including the ability to read body language, interpersonal and communication skills to persuade and negotiate things. <\/font><\/div>\n
 <\/font><\/div>\n
YB Datin Hajah Fatimah Abdullah also stressed that Administrative professionals are expected to be thinkers, not just doers. These professionals are ought to be able to think, to be creative and resourceful, as, if ever problems or conflicts should arise, they will manage to solve it. <\/font><\/div>\n
 <\/font><\/div>\n
In addition, conflicts need to be resolved in a productive and positive way as it would not only bring positive outcome for both parties, but also the relationship, goodwill stays intact and cooperation and alliance continues. <\/font><\/div>\n
 <\/font><\/div>\n
To achieve professionalism is to require more than good education and training such as basic secretarial skills, knowledge and skills on office organization, recordkeeping, document preparation, customer service and public relations management. <\/font><\/div>\n
 <\/font><\/div>\n
Professionalism also is not only about having a clear understanding of what the job entails, the organizational goals and objectives. Administrative Professionals are expected to be very focus, objective and logical in thinking, and to be able to set and hold on to boundaries and limits within the context of our society\u2019s social and religious values. <\/font><\/div>\n
 <\/font><\/div>\n
She said professionalism required one to have a good EQ which is an ability, capacity, or skill to perceive, assess, and manage the emotions of one\u2019s self, of other and of groups in order to achieve professionalism. On top of that, SQ (Spiritual quotient) is also essential to Administrative Professionals as they need to grasp about self awareness and possessing values such as honesty, modesty, morality and humanity. <\/font><\/div>\n
 <\/font><\/div>\n
The Administrative Professionals Seminar 2009 brings to the participants subject matters that could contribute towards inculcating the values of being professional at the workplace with the theme; Achieving Excellence \u2013 The Power of Professionalism. <\/font><\/div>\n

Participants will be able to know and enjoy various topics ranging from Mind-map positive values of great working habits, developing \u201centrepreneurial\u201d mindset to the workplace…how it could be achieved, ESQ: from good to great personality, how to effectively manage conflict and still perform? And bridging \u201cMars\u201d and \u201cVenus\u201d: positive synergy to top performance. These topics will be conducted by five top speakers; YBhg. Datin Paduka Dr. Hajah Sharifah Mazlina bt. Syed Abdul Kadir, YBhg. Dato\u2019 Ghazali b. Dato\u2019 Mohd. Yusoff, Mr. Aminul Rachman Pulungan, Ms. Karen Ong and Madam Liew Huey Hua. <\/font><\/div>\n
