International Conference on Contemporary Issues in Accounting and Finance 2015

Minister of Housing & Minister of Tourism YB Datuk Amar Haji Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg (centre) witnessed the Memorandum of Understanding document exchange ceremony between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), represented by its vice chancellor YBhg Prof Dato’ Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi (left) and Cooperative University of Thanlyin from Myanmar, represented by its rector Prof Dr Thein Tun (right) during the second International Conference on Contemporary Issues in Accounting and Finance (CoCIAF) 2015 at a local hotel in Kuching on 8 October 2015.

The conference, running from 8 to 10 October, featured a collection of over 60 research works relevant to the theme “Theory Meets Practice” that will be presented across 12 concurrent sessions based on common topics that include Economics, Corporate Governance, Business Management, Auditing and Earnings Management, Public Finance, Islamic Economics & Finance, and Accounting & Finance.

The three outstanding papers presented at the conference will be awarded a certificate and the authors will be invited to submit their full paper that are expected to be reviewed and published in two publications, namely the International Journal of Business and Society and UNIMAS Review of Accounting and Finance.

Organised by UNIMAS’s Faculty of Economics & Business (FEB) in collaboration with the Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC), the learning and development arm of Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), the events has attracted over 100 delegates from various research background countries such as Iran, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Japan, Myanmar and Malaysia.

CoCIAF was first organised in 2013, and is designed as a platform for academicians, researchers, industry practitioners and policy makers to interact and exchange viewpoints and research findings on contemporary issues in Accounting and Finance.
